Elementary Teachers of Toronto Logo

The Elementary Teachers of Toronto wanted something more vibrant and easily recognizable; something that better reflected their nature and support for public education; something that said diversity, openness, and collaboration. Our design is an open book composed of two abstract birds. The larger bird can be seen teaching the younger bird, while the book itself appears to be in flight. Taken as a whole, the logo reflects ETT’s support for public education, while symbolizing openness, nurturing, and growth within the teaching community.

The Elementary Teachers of Toronto is the largest teachers’ Local in Canada, with over 11,000 members. After re-designing the ETT brand, we were asked to take their existing site and give it an energetic facelift with the vibrant new brand. Working with the existing codebase, we re-styled the entire website while making it fully responsive.

The Elementary Teachers of Toronto were completely re-branded by Catalyst Workshop. Their new marketing materials explore their playful and professional new brand across a wide range of printed materials, including business cards, event programs, flyers, magazines, pamphlets, posters, and more.

Elementary Teachers of Toronto Branding

The Elementary Teachers of Toronto logo and branding had been in use since the organization’s formation in 1998. They wanted something that better reflected their core values, most notably their support for students and public education; the diversity of their membership; and the collaboration, solidarity, and engagement at the heart of their union. The branding was designed concurrently with a new logo, comprised of two colours. A traditional dark blue provides a link to the old design, while reflecting the organization’s roots within Toronto. A lively Cyan brings energy, youth and vitality into the mix. A vibrant palette of secondary colours reflects diversity within ETT’s membership and the education community.
